Turn a Photo into a Custom Metal Poster in Pakistan

A practical guide to choosing the right photo, crop, size, finish, and mount for a personal metal poster in Pakistan.

Written and reviewed by Lasting Details Studio

A favourite photograph can make more personal wall art than a design chosen from a catalogue. The hard part is not uploading it: it is deciding whether the original file, crop, size, finish, and wall will work together. Here is how to make those decisions before ordering a custom metal poster in Pakistan.

Start with a photo you have the right to print

Choose a photograph you took, artwork you created, or an image for which you have permission to make a physical print. A picture found online, a movie still, or somebody else's illustration is not automatically yours to reproduce. For a gift, check that the people shown are comfortable with the image being printed and displayed.

Look at the photo at full size, not just as a phone thumbnail. Are the faces sharp? Are dark areas detailed rather than solid black? Does the picture still feel good when you imagine it on a wall? A simple, well-exposed photograph often makes a better print than one with a heavy filter or an aggressive sharpening effect.

Find the original file before choosing a size

Use the original camera image or the largest clean export you have. Avoid a screenshot, a messaging-app copy, or an image downloaded from a social post when the original is available. Those versions can be small or compressed, and printing them larger does not restore missing detail.

Pixel dimensions matter more than a DPI number written into a file. For example, a 3000-pixel-wide photo printed 300 mm wide has about 254 pixels per inch of effective detail; printing the same file 600 mm wide roughly halves that density. Adobe explains how image pixels and print size determine effective resolution. The final result also depends on sharpness, crop, artwork style, and normal viewing distance. There is no single pixel threshold that makes every image safe at every size. If you are unsure, upload the best original and choose the size you actually want; the team checks for obvious file-quality concerns before production.

For a deeper explanation of resolution and export choices, see our artwork preparation guide.

Check the portrait crop before ordering

Lasting Details custom metal posters use portrait A-series sizes, from A5 to A1. Every size has roughly the same portrait shape. A landscape family photo or a square image will need a substantial crop to fill it; enlarging the size will not change that shape.

  1. Open the photo and imagine a tall rectangle over it. Can the subject stay inside without losing a face, hand, pet, or important background?
  2. Leave some breathing room around faces, lettering, and signatures. Details placed right at an edge are vulnerable to a tight crop.
  3. Inspect the live builder preview at the chosen size. Do not rely on the original uncropped file thumbnail.

If the portrait crop removes the point of the photograph, use a different image or reconsider the product. Do not stretch a wide photo to fit a tall poster: that distorts people and objects.

Choose the size for the wall and the file

Measure the clear wall area, including the space above furniture. Then check the photo at the size you hope to buy. A smaller print can be a better choice if the original is soft, while a sharp source and a wide blank wall give you more room to go larger.

SizePrint dimensionsA useful starting point
A5148 x 210 mmSmall gift, shelf, or narrow wall
A4210 x 297 mmDesk-side photo or grouped prints
A3297 x 420 mmA single photo in a bedroom or study
A2420 x 594 mmA visible feature above a desk or console
A1594 x 841 mmA large wall with a strong original image

These are placement suggestions, not a guarantee that a particular file will print well at that size. Mark the dimensions on the wall with removable paper before committing. Our wall art size guide covers room proportions in more detail.

Matte or gloss for a personal photograph?

Choose matte if the print faces a bright window or strong room lights and you want fewer distracting reflections. Choose gloss if you like a more reflective surface and can place the print away from direct glare. Neither finish fixes a low-resolution file or changes the colours inside the uploaded photograph. The preview is an aid to checking composition, not a colour-accurate physical proof.

Metal is a rigid print surface. It does not add metallic ink, light effects, or extra saturation to the image. If your photo depends on subtle skin tones or quiet colours, compare it in normal room light rather than judging it under a dramatic phone filter.

Choose mounting for the actual wall

Custom Metal offers double-sided tape or magnetic mounting. Tape is the included, simpler choice for a placement you do not expect to move often. Magnetic mounting is an optional paid choice when you want to lift or swap the metal print more easily. Both depend on a suitable clean, dry, stable wall surface; neither should be assumed harmless on every paint or plaster finish.

Check the wall condition and follow the supplied installation instructions. Our drill-free hanging guide explains the surface questions worth checking first.

Place the order without a surprise

Open the custom metal poster builder, upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image under 8 MB, and inspect the crop. Choose A5 to A1, matte or gloss, then your mounting option. The selected combination shows its current price before you add it to the cart; delivery charges and timing are shown through checkout.

Before paying, check five things: the correct original file, the visible crop, the physical dimensions, the finish, and the mounting choice. Lasting Details checks for obvious image-quality problems before production and contacts you if a file is likely to cause concern. That review is a safeguard, not a promise that a small or blurry image can be turned into a sharp large print.

Common questions

Can I print a photo sent to me on WhatsApp?

You can try, but ask the sender for the original camera file first. Messaging copies are often compressed. Check the uploaded image at full size before selecting a large poster.

Can I use a landscape photo?

Yes, if you are happy with a portrait crop that keeps the important parts of the photo. Review the builder preview carefully; the A-series poster itself does not change to a landscape shape.

Is a metal poster better than a paper poster for my photo?

Metal suits a rigid, frameless look. Paper is the lower-cost choice when you may want to frame the print later. The right answer is about presentation and budget, not an automatic improvement in the source image. Compare both in our metal versus paper guide, or open the custom paper poster builder.

Where do I see the current price?

The custom metal poster builder displays the price for your selected size, finish, and mounting option. For the full ready-made range and size-by-size context, see our metal poster buying guide.
