Best artwork formats for desk mat printing

Use the largest original file you have. A screenshot, compressed WhatsApp image, or small social-media download may look fine on a phone but print soft when stretched across 700 to 900 mm.

These artwork types usually print well:

• Wide landscape artwork with the main subject near the centre.
• Abstract and geometric designs because they tolerate wide cropping well.
• Pattern-based artwork where repetition or texture fills the full mat.
• Logo or typography designs when the text is large, crisp, and away from the edge.
• Original illustrations created at a high resolution for print.

Artwork to avoid

Some files create unrealistic expectations because they look sharp on a screen but do not have enough detail for print.

Colour expectations for printed desk mats

A printed desk mat will not look exactly like a bright phone screen. Screens create light; fabric reflects light. That means neon colours, very deep shadows, and tiny contrast details can look different once printed.

This does not mean the print will look dull. It means the best custom mat files are designed with enough contrast, clean shapes, and realistic colour expectations. If a design depends on extreme glow effects or almost-black details, simplify it before uploading.
